Stray puppy proudly displays its cherished newspaper to everyone on the street

During a routine patrol in Northeast Houston, a volunteer from Corridor Rescue noticed a small, tan puppy walking proudly with a damp newspaper in its mouth. The sight of the upbeat little dog, jauntily trotting down the street despite its tough circumstances, captured the volunteer’s attention. Though the puppy appeared spirited, it was clear he was suffering from the harsh realities of street life. Without hesitation, the volunteer recorded a brief video and scooped up the dog, leaving behind the soggy newspaper that had been its makeshift toy.

Bingo’s Health Struggles and Recovery

The puppy, later named Bingo, was taken to a veterinary clinic for a thorough examination. Though initially timid and unsure in his new surroundings, the little dog would soon show his true vibrant nature as his health improved.

Upon examination, Bingo was found to be in poor health, weighing a mere 11 pounds and struggling with several conditions. He had a belly full of parasites, sarcoptic mange, and a secondary bacterial infection from scratching his irritated skin. Additionally, Bingo was dehydrated and tested positive for Parvo, a potentially deadly virus. Fortunately, his case of Parvo was mild, and with prompt treatment, he began to recover quickly.

Despite these challenges, the rescue team was determined to help Bingo regain his health. His resilience was evident as he fought through his illness and began responding well to treatment. With proper care, medication, and plenty of love from the staff and volunteers at Corridor Rescue, Bingo slowly started to improve. His once timid and scared demeanor gave way to a more playful and confident puppy.

A Spunky Spirit Emerges

As Bingo’s health continued to improve, his playful spirit became more apparent. According to Page Moore, president of Corridor Rescue, Bingo transformed into a spunky and bold little dog, eager to engage with the staff and volunteers. He loved his new toys, a far cry from the soggy newspaper he had once carried proudly. His energetic nature brought joy to everyone around him, and Bingo became a favorite at the rescue.

In just one month, Bingo gained 8 pounds and

began to thrive, both physically and emotionally. His once rough and matted coat was now shiny, and his playful personality shone through. With his health restored and his spirit lifted, Bingo was cleared for adoption and started his search for a forever home.

A New Beginning for Bingo — Now Chance

It wasn’t long before Bingo found his perfect match. A family in Saint Paul, Minnesota, saw his listing for adoption and immediately fell in love. After completing the necessary paperwork, Bingo made the journey from Texas to Minnesota, where he was welcomed with open arms by his new family. They renamed him Chance, symbolizing the second opportunity he had been given.

Chance now lives with a loving mom and three children, and he couldn’t be happier. His new family describes him as a playful and energetic dog who fits right in. “We are a hockey family,” Chance’s new mom shared in an update. “Of course, we had to introduce him to the game. He loves chasing pucks around.”
