Gizmo was a small, fluffy puppy with big, hopeful eyes. He loved his human family more than anything in the world. Every day, they would play with him, feed him, and shower him with affection.
Today was Gizmo’s third birthday, and he had been waiting for it with great anticipation. He expected his family to make a big deal out of it, maybe with a party or a special treat. But as the day wore on, Gizmo realized something was wrong. No one seemed to remember his birthday.
Gizmo wandered around the house, looking for signs of celebration. There were no balloons, no streamers, and no birthday cake. He felt a pang of sadness in his heart. He missed his family’s attention, their laughter, and their love.
As the day turned into evening, Gizmo curled up on the couch, feeling lonely and unwanted. He closed his eyes and wished that his birthday could be different. Just then, he heard a faint scratching sound at the door.
He opened his eyes and saw a small, brown box sitting on the mat. His tail wagged excitedly as he picked up the box and tore it open. Inside was a brand new toy, a squeaky bone that he had been eyeing at the pet store.
A note was attached to the toy, which read, “Happy birthday, Gizmo! We hope you love your new toy. From your loving family.”
Gizmo’s heart swelled with joy. He had almost forgotten about his family. He knew they were busy, but he was so happy that they had remembered his birthday after all. As he played with his new toy, Gizmo realized that even though his birthday hadn’t gone exactly as he had planned, it was still a special day. He had his family’s love, and that was all that mattered.
