A Life Disrupted
Cartier, a once happy and content dog, experienced a sudden and devastating change when her family decided they could no longer care for her and surrendered her to a New York City shelter. This abrupt change left Cartier confused and heartbroken, struggling to understand why she had lost her home and family.
From Crate to Foster Care
Before being surrendered, Cartier was confined to a crate, which exacerbated her anxiety. Rebound Hounds, a rescue and rehabilitation organization, took her in and placed her with a loving foster family, Katy Brink and her husband, Collin. Having personal experience with anxiety, Katy understood Cartier’s struggles and was determined to provide her with the support and understanding she needed.
A Need for a Special Home
Although Katy and Collin provided a loving environment, their two resident dogs made it difficult for Cartier to fully relax. She needed a calm and quiet home where she could be the only dog. For over a year, Cartier searched for her forever home, but found no suitable match. She needs an owner with a calm routine, who enjoys walks and quiet companionship. While she doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, she thrives on being near her human.
A Sweet Soul Deserving of Love
Despite her anxiety, Cartier is a sweet, smart, funny, and empathetic dog. She enjoys playing with toys, especially while lying on her back, and loves spending time with her humans. She is described as an easygoing and low-maintenance companion at home. While she can be on high alert in new situations and around other dogs, she is actively working on overcoming her anxiety. Cartier’s story highlights the importance of finding the right match for every rescue animal. She deserves a loving home where she can truly feel safe, secure, and loved.
