A mother dog experienced profound betrayal and worry after her owner abandoned her and her puppies in a park in San Antonio, Texas.

When a compassionate woman named Jennifer McKee came across the social media post, she immediately headed to the San Antonio park to offer assistance.
Upon arriving at the scene, her heart sank at the sight of two puppies nestled in their mother’s embrace.
The mama dog was severely malnourished and neglected.
“The mama was skin and bones, [her] skin and fur a mess. The puppies looked good considering how they were found,” McKee told The Dodo, describing the dire situation.
McKee wanted to avoid startling them, so she approached them as quietly as possible.
She offered the mama dog, later named Nova, some turkey.
Because the dog was starving, she quickly devoured the food.
When the puppies awoke, the rescuer gently took them into her arms. The babies were cold and trembling uncontrollably.
McKee reassured them that everything would be alright.
A Safe Haven: Love and Care in Foster Care
After feeding them, she carefully placed them in her car and provided them with water.
The canine family was incredibly thirsty. Nova allowed her puppies to drink first, looking at the rescuer with eyes full of gratitude.
McKee took the canine family to her home and began fostering them. She and her family were determined to provide them with the love and care they desperately needed.
She took them to the veterinarian for a thorough checkup, where they all received a clean bill of health.
Initially, the puppies, named Peaches and Tank, spent much of their time sleeping and decompressing from their ordeal.
Nova began consuming nutritious food and continued to diligently care for her babies.
Gradually, she regained her strength and realized that she and her children were finally safe.
Feeling secure and content, Peaches and Tank started to enjoy playing with their mother.
McKee and her family showered Nova and her puppies with affection.
The pups absorbed their foster family’s love and began to express their playful and affectionate personalities.
