The Bond of Love: A Dog’s Place in the Family
From the moment we first hold our dogs and welcome them into our homes, they become cherished members of our families. Their happiness becomes our priority, and we find it difficult to imagine our lives without their presence.
All dog owners should love their canine companions immeasurably and strive to provide them with the best possible life.
The knowledge that some owners hold different attitudes and feelings towards their furry friends fills me with sadness.
Our following story centers on Denny, a sweet three-year-old pup, whose family failed to love him as he deserved and ultimately betrayed him.
Denny’s owners took him to the veterinarian with the intention of having him euthanized because they were planning to move.
Aside from being blind due to an injury sustained years prior, Denny was a healthy dog.
The veterinarian immediately refused to euthanize Denny and began exploring the best course of action to help the gentle pup.
A Vet’s Intervention: Saving Denny’s Life
The veterinary team hoped to find a family who would truly appreciate Denny and love him unconditionally.
While waiting at the veterinary clinic, Denny was likely unaware of his family’s betrayal. The sweet pup probably believed that they loved him and would never abandon him.
One of the veterinary team members contacted Chrissy Elder, the founder of Forgotten, Now Family, a rescue organization in North Carolina. The team member informed Elder that a dog owner had requested euthanasia for his healthy dog.
“When I heard about Denny, I knew I had to do something to help. No animal deserves to be abandoned, especially one as sweet as Denny,” Elder shared in an interview, expressing her compassion.
Upon learning that the rescue was willing to take Denny into their care, the canine’s owner abandoned their plan to euthanize him. They agreed to surrender Denny to the rescue organization instead.
According to Elder, the canine’s owner seemed grateful that Denny was given a second chance at life.
A New Chapter: Denny Finds Love and Comfort
Elder decided to foster the adorable pup and brought him home with her.
Although Denny couldn’t physically see his owners leaving him, the pooch sensed their absence. He knew that his circumstances had changed.
Elder understood that the transition to his new home might be more challenging because Denny was blind. The rescuer allowed him time to decompress and adjust to his new surroundings.
She showered the pooch with affection, making him feel loved and secure.
The pup consistently displayed a happy demeanor, as if all he wanted was to be in his foster mom’s lap. Denny adored snuggling with her.
Elder was captivated by the pup’s loving disposition and his irresistible smile.
“This guy is the sweetest house hippo I’ve ever met. Somehow he still smiles and just wants to love everyone,” Elder wrote on the rescue’s Instagram account, expressing her affection for Denny.
A Forever Home: A Happy Ending for Denny
Shortly after taking Denny in, the kind-hearted rescuer fell deeply in love with him. She made the decision to provide him with a loving forever home and cherish him for the rest of his life.
The pup’s face radiates happiness because he feels safe, secure, and loved every single day.
Denny and his mom thoroughly enjoy their time together, and they eagerly anticipate their future adventures.
Denny’s happy ending has warmed our hearts. We are deeply grateful to the veterinary team for reaching out to the Charlotte-based rescue and to Chrissy Elder for making Denny the happiest dog in the world.
