Pregnant Seahorse Filmed By Diver, Then A Tiny Tail Starts Poking Out Of The Brood Pouch

A rare video of a seahorse went viral after being shared online. The video, that was taken by 2 researchers from the University of British Columbia, shows the animal giving birth in the water.

You can see in the video below the seahorse dad trying to stay close to seagrass as his babies emerge from his abdomen. Meagan Abele and Clayton Manning saw the delivery of the babies off the coast of New South Wales, Australia.

You may be surprised about how a male seahorses can be pregnant, but the female seahorses are the responsible of depositing eggs into a pouch on the abdomen of the male seahorses. Between 100-250 seahorse babies are born at once after being carried for 3 weeks in the male’s abdomen. How great! Watch the video below.
