Cookie Dough the Shar Pei was rescued by Vet Ranch after the dog was left at a shelter in very poor shape.
The dog had a skin infection and ulcers in her eyes and she had been used as a breeding dog at a puppy mill.
Cookie Dough couldnโt see and was likely blind her whole life because of entropion.
Entropion is a medical condition in which the eyelid folds inwards causing the eyelashes to continually rub against the cornea and cause irritation.
Itโs very uncomfortable and usually treated when a dog is young, so to think that Cookie Dough suffered so long from something that is treatable is maddening!
But Dr. Kari set to work to treat the sweet Shar Peiโs skin infection, heartworm and the ulcers in her eyes so she would be ready for surgery.
