A Heartwarming Rescue
When Little Bear, a sweet, blind pup, was brought to The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, the staff immediately fell in love with him. The adorable dog, rescued from the streets, desperately needed affection and a loving home.
Knowing that Lee Asher, a renowned dog rescuer and founder of The Asher House, would be the perfect match for Little Bear, the shelter contacted him. Kelly Hill, a team member from The Asher House, traveled to Washington to bring Little Bear to Oregon to meet Asher.
An Instant Connection
As soon as Asher saw Little Bear, his heart melted. The Chow Chow’s Teddy bear-like appearance and gentle nature captivated him instantly. Asher scooped Little Bear up in his arms, and the pup instinctively nestled into his embrace.
The connection was immediate. Little Bear held onto Asher’s arm with his paw, unwilling to let go. It was as if he had found his forever home. Asher was overwhelmed with love and couldn’t believe that anyone could have abandoned such a sweet and innocent dog.
A Promise of Forever
Asher showered Little Bear with kisses and affection, assuring him that he would never have to worry again. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Asher declared his love for Little Bear, promising to be his forever dad.
Despite Little Bear’s blindness, Asher knew that he could feel the love and support he was receiving. Asher carried Little Bear close to his heart, reassuring him of his presence.
A Medical Challenge
Unfortunately, Little Bear was suffering from entropion, a condition that caused his eyelids to invert into his eyes. This painful condition required surgery to correct. Asher was determined to provide Little Bear with the necessary care to alleviate his discomfort.
A New Beginning
After a brief wait for Little Bear to recover from kennel cough, Asher brought him home. The pup enjoyed the comfort and security of his new environment, cuddling with Asher in his room and feeling loved and protected.
Asher took Little Bear to the groomers for a bath and grooming session, followed by a visit to the vet for a medical checkup and to schedule his eye surgery.
The surgery was a success, relieving Little Bear of the pain he had endured. Asher was overjoyed to see his beloved dog finally free from discomfort.
A Happy Reunion
Little Bear was now ready to meet his new siblings. Initially cautious, he quickly warmed up to them, engaging in playful interactions and receiving affectionate greetings.
The other blind dogs in the pack provided Little Bear with guidance and support, helping him navigate his surroundings with confidence. Together, they enjoyed hiking, exploring nature, and strengthening their bonds.
A Love Story
Asher’s love for Little Bear was evident in his every action. He cherished every moment with his furry companion, feeling incredibly blessed to have Little Bear in his life.
