A Desperate Plea: Found Behind a Dumpster
When a compassionate Good Samaritan spotted a terrified pup curled up behind a dumpster in an alley in St. Louis, Missouri, they immediately contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, seeking their urgent assistance.
Donna Lochmann and her dedicated team swiftly headed to the scene, prepared to help the distressed animal.
Upon arrival, they found the dog, later named Joan of Bark, cowering and attempting to hide from the world. She was remarkably quiet, exhibiting a demeanor that suggested she had resigned herself to a bleak fate.
The moment Joan of Bark heard Lochmann’s gentle voice, she turned her gaze in her direction. Her beautiful eyes spoke volumes of her deep sorrow and overwhelming fear.
A Gentle Approach: Bringing Her to Safety
Lochmann patiently sat down next to Joan of Bark and offered her Vienna sausages as a means of gentle encouragement.

They rushed her to their clinic, where the veterinarian conducted a thorough examination and took X-rays of her injured back leg.
The compassionate vet staff provided Joan of Bark with a soothing bath, which the pup seemed to thoroughly enjoy. She gazed at her caregivers with eyes filled with gratitude for their kindness.
