Although TPGHR was also facing the challenges of being overburdened and might not have had the immediate capacity to help, the desperate volunteer knew she had to try every possibility.

The plea for help reached Nancy Rieley, the compassionate president of TPGHR. Looking at the images of the seven small, vulnerable puppies, Nancy couldn’t help but feel the weight of their lives resting on her decision. As she later expressed, “It’s an awful feeling looking at seven little puppies and being the reason that they live or die.” Fortunately, compassion prevailed.
