167 German Shepherds were rescued by heroes from the Atlanta Humane Society’s Animal Protection Unit. The authorities were contacted about a property in Georgia that kept these poor dogs in horrible conditions.
Those who were keeping the dogs were arrested. The next challenge was helping all of the German Shepherds get the medical attention they needed. When they first saw the cages of the dogs, it was a horrendous sight.
The pens were filthy, and they stood on 6 inches of mud. None of them were bathed, and they were tightly packed all around the property. Thankfully many rescue shelters stepped up to take in the dogs.
There was a German Shepherd named Beetle who was particularly shy but also curious. Rescuers would sit by him and let him slowly learn how to trust and be comfortable around people.
Beetle was nervous and paced around often, but he began to wag his tail and eventually allowed people to pet him. It was rewarding for the rescuers to see his progress.
A family went down to the shelter and decided to adopt Beetle. They had a dog named Maggie that reacted well when meeting Beetle for the first time.
It was a challenge for them to take in Beetle since he wasn’t used to living in a home. Everything was new to him, and he brought his new family so much joy.
