Dogfighting is a cruel and illegal activity that continues to persist in certain parts of the world. However, there are organizations and individuals who are dedicated to putting an end to it and rescuing the innocent dogs that are trapped in these brutal operations.
One such example is Olivia, a pit bull who was rescued from a dogfighting ring in South Carolina. Despite enduring immense trauma, both physically and emotionally, Olivia was fortunate enough to be taken in by the Humane Society of the United States.
Although it was clear that Olivia had been involved in at least two fights before her rescue, her progress has been steady under the loving care of her rescuers. While she was initially timid and distrustful of people, she gradually began to open up and accept affection.
The Humane Society notes that Olivia’s recovery may be gradual, but it is steady. They are optimistic about her future and believe that with continued care and support, she will make a full recovery.
It is heartening to see organizations like the Humane Society working tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate dogs like Olivia who have been subjected to such cruelty and trauma. While there is still much work to be done to end dogfighting and other forms of animal cruelty, stories like Olivia’s give us hope that progress is being made and that there is a brighter future ahead for all animals.
