As animal lovers, it’s easy to become disillusioned when we hear about the horrific treatment of dogs in some countries. It’s difficult to imagine the pain and suffering these innocent animals endure for the sake of a cultural delicacy.

However, there are still people out there who refuse to turn a blind eye to this cruelty and instead take action to make a difference. This is the story of one such person, Xingyi Danielle, who travelled to China and rescued a dog from being sold at a meat market.

Xingyi and her father were on a trip to China when they came across a group of people selling live puppies for slaughter. Witnessing the cruelty and inhumanity of the situation, they decided to intervene. Although they could only save one dog, Xingyi’s father freed the dog and gave him the name Doggo. Due to the no-pets policy in his apartment, Doggo is currently residing at his owner’s office until a more suitable living situation becomes available. However, the most significant thing is that Doggo was rescued from a grim fate and is now safe and loved.

Sadly, the Lychee and Dog Meat Festival held in late June involves the consumption of around 10,000 dogs and cats each year. Many of these animals are stolen from their homes and subjected to brutal violence, such as being beaten to death or skinned alive. This is a heartbreaking reality that we must face and fight against. However, there is a glimmer of hope in the form of public outcry and condemnation. This year, the sale of dog meat was prohibited due to widespread public pressure, marking a significant step in the right direction in addressing this issue.

It’s easy to become discouraged when faced with the cruelty and injustice that animals face in some parts of the world. However, it’s important to remember that there are still people out there who refuse to stand by and let it happen.

Xingyi Danielle’s story serves as a reminder that even one act of kindness can make a difference in an animal’s life. While there is still much work to be done, we can take comfort in knowing that progress is being made thanks to the efforts of compassionate individuals.
